How many songs can you think of about New York City? I counted 6 off the top of my head, and I’m sure I could name dozens more if I put the old noggin to it.
The weekend of January 13 marked my fiancé’s first trip the the Big Apple. We had Carnegie Hall concert tickets for a Saturday matinee of the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert, and opted to make a day of it. Oh the adventures we had!
Arriving at Penn Station at in the morning, we walked about two blocks to grab an authentic bagel and smear. We took the subway to the Museum of Natural History to be in line by 10 am when they opened the doors. The museum itself could constitute a whole entire day, but we opted for 3 main exhibits: human evolution, meteorites, and dinosaurs.
We took our time getting back downtown to Carnegie Hall. The concert itself was incredible, despite having nosebleed seats in the upper balcony that were clearly not made for 21st century-sized people (read: narrow seats and minuscule leg room).
After the concert, we walked to Times Square for dinner at Junior’s for the most stereotypical NYC deli experience. Pastrami, blintzes, and cheesecake, oh my!
It was a pretty phenomenal trip and we can’t wait to go back! It’s basically impossible to fit everything into one whole week, let alone a day. As such, we’ve created a New York bucket list for our future trips. Enjoy!
